 legation for this years Special Olympics Maine State Soccer Competition 
 – 2026 Soccer Intent to Participate  \n  \nRegistration will close Thurs
 day\, September 24th  \n  \nAthletes and Unified Partners can compete in
  one of the following-  \n\nIndividual Skills Competition – Designed for
  athletes who are not yet ready for full team play. Athletes compete ind
 ividually in three soccer skill events: dribbling\, shooting\, and run &
 amp\; kick. \n\n\n5-A-Side Traditional Team – A 5-a-side soccer competit
 ion for teams of Special Olympics athletes. Each team competes in games 
 consisting of two 10-minute halves with a 5-minute halftime against othe
 r delegations and is divisioned based on overall team ability. Teams may
  have 8–12 players on their roster\, with 5 players (including a goalkee
 per) on the field at one time. \n\n\n5-A-Side Unified Team – A 5-a-side 
 soccer competition where Special Olympics athletes compete alongside Uni
 fied Partners. Teams must maintain the required athlete-to-partner ratio
  throughout competition and are divisioned against other Unified teams o
 f similar ability. Games consist of two 10-minute halves with a 5-minute
  halftime. \n\n  \nRequired Paperwork:  \nComplete ALL required forms be
 low for Athletes\, Coaches\, Volunteers &amp\; Unified Partners prior to
  the event if you have not already done so.  \n   \nAll athletes are req
 uired to complete our Athlete Registration Form. One year from the signa
 ture date the form expires and process transitions to a yearly one page 
 Athlete Renewal Form.  \n  \nAll HODs\, Assistant Coaches\, Unified Part
 ners or Volunteers must have the following -   \n\nComplete Special Olym
 pics Maine Class A Volunteer &amp\; Unified Partner Registration Form (o
 ne time only) \n\n\nComplete a Sterling Background Check (expires every 
 3 years) \n\n\nComplete Protective Behaviors Training (expires every 3 y
 ears) \n\n\n*Unified Partners under 18 years old or enrolled in High Sch
 ool only need to complete Class A Volunteer Form \n\n  \nEach Delegation
  must also have one certified tennis Head Coach and have the forms liste
 d above in addition to the following -   \n\nConcussion Training (expire
 s every 3 years)  \n\n\nSpecial Olympics Maine sport specific training (
 expires every 3 years) \n\n  \nAll paperwork must be completed digitally
